The Aftermath of Christmas...

Hey Everyone!! I hope that you all had a great Christmas!! Mine was pretty busy...but I'm kinda sad its all over. I feel like you wait so long for the one day to get here...then the day flies by and is sadly over.

We started off our Christmas celebrations by heading to MiL's house on Christmas Eve. Had some apps, opened gifts and headed home. On Christmas morning my sisters and mom came over and we cooked a big breakfast, ate and proceeded to open all of our gifts. I got some pretty awesome things...everyone went way overboard, which made me feel crappy because we can't afford to spend as much as they did. I then helped my mom to cook Christmas dinner and her bf later joined us. We eat dinner with my family fairly early in the day, so everyone headed out around 7ish. Around 8ish we packed up and headed to Mike's family's Christmas dinner. We arrived in time for dessert...which is honestly all I could fit anyways and spent a long time just hanging out and catching up.

On Boxing Day I decided that I NEEDED to head to Thyme maternity to check out the sales and see if the dress I want for Mike's cousin's wedding was on sale. I was super happy to find out that it was! I didn't feel like braving any other stores so I decided to go home and head out to the mall the next day. I've spent the majority of the last two days shopping...and I'm tired out lol. I picked up some pretty good deals...got my dress for the wedding, shoes to go with the dress that were like 75% off...a couple of shirts, a new watch (a Christmas present from the hubby) that was on sale....so overall didn't do too bad. I also had the joy of going for my glucose tolerance test this morning...yuck. The stuff you have to drink is just gross...and it made the little guy super wiggly shortly after drinking it. Hopefully the results will come back in the next few days and everything will have gone well...

Anyways...I'm off to dinner, so I will update again soon!

Nesting!? Possibly...

I've always heard that pregnant women go through a nesting stage at some point in their pregnancy and I think I've begun mine....

Next week I'm holding a Christmas party with some of my closest friends here at my house. Like most people...I want a clean house for when everyone comes over, for those of you that know me...cleaning is what I dread the most! Well last night not only did I start cleaning for next weekend but I also made myself a list (I Know what!?!) and I'm actually sticking to my plan. Last night I cleaned all of the bathrooms, today on the list was vacuuming and mopping the floors and tomorrow my plans are to dust and do laundry. I got all of the downstairs vacuumed and mopped and I cleaned up the bedroom and gathered all of the laundry for tomorrow. Tomorrow I will vacuum the upstairs and mop the floors up there, as well as dust everything downstairs and finish my Christmas shopping.

My second sign that I'm possibly nesting is that the baby's room is driving me crazy. Right now it's pretty much empty of baby stuff and filled with random boxes that we just never moved or put away after moving. Everytime I walk into the baby's room lately I become really bothered. I know that things will get moved once the basement is completed (which should be sometime this week) but I can't wait! I've also decided how I want to decorate the room...I want Mike to put up chair rail around the room, so that I can paint it chocolate brown on the bottom and pale blue on top...hang up the airplane decals once I frame them and buy wooden letter that spell out the baby's name for above the crib. I can't wait to get the room done :) I think it will really pull things together...even though I have no furniture for the room yet.

Anyways...I'm looking forward to my Christmas party next weekend :) I can't believe that Christmas is coming up so quickly! I hope that everyone is enjoying this time and that everyone is doing well...until next time!

So...

I wish I could come up with some witty blog post or have something inspired to write...but alas I don't. To be honest things have been pretty boring lately in my life. I've felt stressed out about stuff for the last month and things are FINALLY starting to calm down. I'm getting a much needed and well deserved day off tomorrow, so I've just been relaxing this weekend and catching up on my rest. Being stressed is bad enough...but being pregnant and stressed is just down right tiring lol.

I think tomorrow I'm going to go shopping for Christmas decorations for the house with my sister and try to get the house in Christmas condition. Only a couple more weeks until I host a Christmas party and I want this place to look festive! I then plan to spend the afternoon watching Beauty and the Beast (because I'm cool like that) and then going to see Breaking Dawn with my mom.

Well I'm off to watch some never before heard of B list movie on TMN on Demand...until next time!

Pregnancy and my Ever Changing Body

In the last week I've really noticed how much bigger my belly has gotten. It's not "huge" per say...but it is a lot bigger then what I'm used to. Along with my ever growing belly...other parts of me have grown as well. My hair is growing like a weed..which I don't mind at all, it has also gotten a lot shinier and softer over the last couple of weeks, which is a nice plus too. I've come to the realization this week that I may just have to buy a new bra as well...something which I was pretty sure I could avoid. When I first got pregnant I was all excited about that area starting to grow...as naturally I am pretty small chested. I had a couple of bras that I had bought or had been given to me that were slightly too big pre-pregnancy that not fit post-pregnancy. Sadly..those bras are also getting too small. I've been avoiding buying a lot of things clothing related for as long as possible...the only things I've really bought are pants, as my old pants fit just right and any additional weight gain made them really uncomfortable. This pay day I think I will hit up LaSenza and pick out a new bra and have myself measured to find out what size I even am anymore...and then I am going to head to Urban Planet and pick up some slightly larger sweaters for the winter. I'm not quite big enough yet that buying regular shirts/sweaters in larger sizes doesn't work...so to save money I figure I will just go buy some cheaper sweaters in larger sizes and save myself some money...sweaters at UP are like 2 for $25 whereas sweaters at Thyme are $59 each....such a rip off!

I'll post a pic of the belly soon...I just generally try to avoid cameras..pregnant or not.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Not a whole lot has gone on in the last week...

I've really felt Baby B kicking a lot this week. He seems to like the music I play on my drive home from work each night. I tend to listen to it quite loudly and as soon as I get in and turn the car on, the kicking starts and doesn't stop until I get home. He also kicks quite a bit if I'm hungry and haven't eaten yet and sometimes when Daddy talks to him. It's a crazy feeling now that I can tell the difference between a kick and a gas bubble lol.

This week the stuff that my mom ordered for us came in. I put together the stroller and car seat yesterday and was going to move onto the playard and high chair and then decided that I wasn't ready for the house to be baby ready yet. It may sound silly, but I want to enjoy my grown up only house for just a little longer. So far everything we've received has been stored in the baby's room upstairs...and nothing much has been done with the room yet. I finally picked out the bedding that I want and have started to design the baby room in my head...now it's just to start the process. DH is going to paint the room once I pick out the colours and then I will start the design process. For now I am going to focus on getting the house decorated for Christmas though. Since it is our first Christmas in the house there is lots that I want to do. We bought a Christmas table centre piece today and a small decoration for the fireplace...and I want to talk to my mom about making me a wreath for the doors since she's really good at them. We will be hosting a Christmas party at the house next month and I'm super excited to get things prepped!! Maybe I'll even have some of the baby room done by then...who knows!?

Anyways...I hope you are all doing well!!

Until next time...

Baby Registries = Tiring

Who would have thought that making up a baby registry would be so tiring? A brand new Toys R Us opened up just down the street from me this weekend and they were having a bunch of grand opening sales, so I decided that it would be a good time to put together my registry. My sister wanted to come along, so together we went over to explore the Babies R Us and add a bunch of stuff to my registry...which was exciting since we now know that Baby B is a BOY!! (My mother's intuition was spot on in predicting the sex of the baby :D)

We probably spent a good hour or so at the store scanning all sorts of things...from breast pumps to bottles, blankets to diapers. Picking out nursery items was hard...I wasn't sure what kind or colour of crib I wanted or what bedding I was interested in and Mike was of no help. Apparently he doesn't care what the nursery looks like, he's just going to paint it and build it...so whatever. Once a crib and dresser/changer and bedding were picked out...we were off to the travel section of the store. Every mother in the city must have been out in full force for the stroller and car seat sales they had going on. I stood in the background and listened to sales associates answer everyone's questions about different strollers and finally made a decision on the one that I wanted. I picked an Eddie Bauer travel system which includes the stroller and infant car seat/carrier. All in all, making the registry was fun...scanning things for our little guy to use when hes born...but it was so tiring! When I left I was ready for a good afternoon nap...which is exactly what happened by time i got home :).

After all the scanning I did in store, I still came home to add stuff online and remove things I didn't really want so much...and I have yet to make another trip to the store to add a couple of things I forgot. I ended up changing my mind about the stroller...at the store I debated between two Eddie Bauer strollers...and later changed my mind to the second one, as I could also get a matching playard and high chair, all of which were on sale...taking the grand total down by a whopping $260. My mom and sisters purchased the above for me, and will be shipped in the next week. It's exciting to have our first real usable furniture bought and on the way! I can't wait to see all of the other stuff we get when the time comes (not that I'm being greedy)...it's just so exciting...especially now that we know "it" is a HE!

19 weeks and counting

I'm officially 19 weeks pregnant today!

I had my first official OB appt. last Thursday...which went pretty well. Nothing really exciting happened...had to get some blood work done, listened to the heartbeat and my due date once again was changed. Instead of being due on March 17th, I'm now due on March 22nd. Not a big deal to me...the longer I get to work the more money we get to put away until the baby comes :)

This week I go for my anatomy U/S...only 2 more sleeps!! I'm super excited to find out what we are having :) With my luck my baby's legs will probably be crossed or something though lol. I'm don't really care one way or another what we have, as long as the baby is healthy. Mike thinks we're having a girl and so do most of my family (I honestly think they just want a girl) and all the girls at work think I'm having a boy. At the beginning of the pregnancy I kind of felt like it was a boy...now I really have no idea what I think it is!

Anyways...we find out on Wednesday!!

Hope everyone else is doing well with their pregnancies :)

I'll update again in a few days...

Love is in the air...or...umm...babies? are :)

Seems like everywhere I turn lately people are telling me they're pregnant! A couple of my co-workers are pregnant, many of the parents are pregnant, some friends of mine are pregnant...many of the blogs I follow have announced that they are pregnant....babies are everywhere!

The exciting thing is....so am I! Hubby and I found out that we were expecting in July....after a week long denial on my part. I just wouldn't believe that pregnancy was an option at the time, as we were planning to start trying in the near future but hadn't actually started. Well...surprise! I was!

Finding out with the HPT was one thing...I went to see my doctor within the next couple of days to confirm everything, which lead to a crazy whirlwind of scariness for an almost 2 week period. When I was about 5 weeks I was sent for an U/S and nothing could be seen...not a sac not a blur...nothing! So I was told to come back in 10 days for a follow up, but to prepare myself as it was very possible I was about to miscarry. 10 days later I went back....anddddd.....I got to to only see my little jelly bean...but I got to see it's heart beating :)

Our plan was not to tell anyone other then immediate family until we hit the second trimester...but that plan soon came crashing down when no one could keep a secret! Over the last two weeks it feels like the whole world has found out...but I'm over it! I'm trying to enjoy this time in my life and I don't have time to worry about what other people are doing and saying. I'm 12 weeks this weekend...and hoping that the "morning" sickness soon subsides! My "baby bump" is slowly emerging and my clothes aren't quite fitting as well as they used to....but I'm excited for this journey ahead of me!

Now that the secret is out...I'll try and update more often

Ugh...People....

This week has been a bag of mixed emotions for me. I've actually been really disappointed with a whole situation that occurred this week...it was quite frankly really upsetting. I wish that people could learn to mind their own business...and if they do see "something" or hear "something" that they could be honest enough to come to me first about it before telling EVERYONE else...ugh!

I'm trying to move past the whole thing now...but it still just sucks. I've lost my faith in a lot of people that I thought I could trust.

Anyways...time to end this rant!

I'll update again soon...I promise!

All Moved In...

So we did it! We moved into our very first house :)

This week has been crazy hectic trying to get everything organized. Both of us took the week off and apparently have also taken on wayyyy too many projects! Saturday we moved in...Mike's friends and brother helped us move everything over, while my mom and sister helped me tidy everything up at this end. I unpacked a bunch of stuff as it showed up...set up the bathrooms, put stuff away in the kitchen, rewashed all the dishes, etc.

Mike's brother spent the night and helped us put together a bunch of the furniture on Sunday. I organized a bunch of my stuff and put it away. In the afternoon we checked out the little diner down the street...which had amazing food!

Monday we continued to unpack in the morning and then decided to go shopping for the rest of the furniture and decos that we needed for the house. We ended up picking up a table for the front hall, an end table for the living room and a TV stand, along with a bunch of little touches to help make this place feel more like home. We spent the afternoon setting things up and putting together our patio furniture. I cleaned up a bit too...mopped the floors and vacuumed the carpets and basement.

On Tuesday I went shopping for some more stuff that we needed...picked out a new paint for the kitchen/dining room, picked up all the painting supplies, an ottoman for the living room and some decos for the front table, then I had to go to the dentist (yay *insert sarcasm here*) and come home and wait for the couch guy to come and spray our couches with special sealant stuff...after he left I went over to the greenhouse down the street and bought some flowers for the back garden. I picked out some beautiful day lilies and a few annuals to help add colour to the garden until the lilies grow a bit.

On Wednesday the painting started...well Mike did the painting...any attempt I made to help was quickly squandered and I was sent off to do other stuff. I ended up building some more furniture and went out to buy some more paintings and a mirror for the front hallway. I also hung up some of the paintings and other wall decos that we already had.

Painting continued on well into today...there is tonnes of trim and baseboards to go around! But it feels good to know the kitchen is now a colour that we like :) While Mike finished the painting I cleaned the carpet on the stairs and mopped and vacuumed AGAIN! As soon as painting was done I put everything away in the kitchen and cooked dinner..first dinner in the new house! I invited my mom and my sisters over for dinner and hot tubbing.

A little while ago our new neighbours came over and brought us some home made cookies...which are so yummy! This is something that never would have happened in our old city! So far I love it here...I look forward to having friends and family over soon! Mike's family are coming over for a BBQ and to see the house on Saturday and my Dad and his family will be over next weekend...then the friend parties can start!

Here comes the bride....

So this past long weekend was spent mostly in Ottawa....my dad got remarried! Exciting right?...well not so much. I honestly didn't have any feelings about the whole thing going into this weekend, I'm not the bride's biggest fan, which has never been a secret, but I really was just going to be there for my dad. By the end of the weekend I was so emotionally drained that I wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for a week.

Everything went well for the first portion of the day...we left for Ottawa on Saturday morning and we arrived in Ottawa around 1pm and stopped by a pub for some lunch. We checked into the hotel around 2pm and started getting ready for the wedding. The wedding started at 4:30pm, the ceremony was first, followed by the reception. Dinner was good, the food was better than expected...but then came the speeches! This is the part where things started to go down hill. It's a known fact in my family that my dad was unfaithful to my mom, which is part of why I'm not a fan of the bride, what I found out during speeches was actually how long the whole relationship was carried on for...which was like a slap across the face. People on the bride's side decided to make impromptu speeches thanking my dad for being such a great second dad to them....slap across the face #2...it's nice to hear that all these people had such a great second dad when I grew up without a first one.

I know that these speeches were not meant to hurt me or my sister in any way...but the fact of the matter is that they did. They hurt a lot to hear. I'm a pretty strong person for what I have gone through growing up and I think I thought I was over everything...but after Saturday night, I've learned that I'm not. I wish that I had had a father growing up...someone who wanted to be a part of my life and who wanted to know me. It hurts to know that while my dad wasn't getting to know me or spending time being part of my life...he was busy being part of someone elses and being a father to them
At the end of the night my dad approached me and apologized for the hurt that the night had inadvertently caused and made me a bunch of promises that I am not quite ready to share...mostly because I question whether or not he will actually keep the promises that were uttered that night. I'm the person that wants to believe the best in everyone will shine through...so I'm going to give him the opportunity to follow through on his promises and uphold what he told me that night...but the pessimistic side of me is telling me not to hold my breath.

Anyways...I just needed to vent about the weekend...it's over...time to move on :)

A breathe of fresh air...

Time for a quick update I guess!

So...big news since last time...we bought a house!! We ended up finding a semi-detached house in Waterdown that we both fell in love with! It has everything we're looking for in a house right now...plus a hot tub, which is a bonus!! We looked at between 10-15 houses before we found this one...liked another house and were debating putting in an offer on it, but something just felt like it was missing inside my heart. I continued to check out MLS and some private real estate sites and found this house. It went up for sale by the owners on Sunday, we viewed it on Monday and put in our offer on Tuesday. Of course for our first time...we had to find a house that was for sale by the owners lol...but it all ended up working out well in the end.

We officially move on June 18th...only 6 more weeks to go! I've spent a lot of my weekends lately out furniture shopping. I've purchased a new sectional, a leather club chair, bar stools and some wall art and Mike has picked up a desk for one of the spare bedrooms. Only little stuff is really left to get...lamps, more wall art, etc...and one big purchase...a dining room set. I have it picked out already, just need to purchase it.

Other than that...I haven't been up to much lately. I can't wait for the nice weather to be upon us. I've started taking the dog out for longer walks...which turn into jogs. I really want to get back into shape and have actually started looking into bootcamps, which I am looking forward to.

I finally finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"...and proceeded to read "Sweet Valley Confidential"(really disappointing if I do say so myself), "Hush, Hush", "Crescendo" and I'm now reading "The Girl who Played with Fire".

Hope all is well with everyone in blogger land...
until next time!

Long Time...No Write

Well, well, well....it's been a long time since I've updated.

To be completely honest I have not really kept up with my list...sad I know. I have finished a few of the items without even knowing it though. These items have been updated on the list.

Over the last couple of months I have become a reading maniac...I seriously am always reading. I finished the entire Janet Evanovich "Stephanie Plum Series" in the matter of two months. I then proceeded to read about 4 other books, and was then introduced to The Hunger Games. Seriously...my favourite books! I loved them and would recommend them to anyone. I am currently reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which I was having a bit of hard time getting into...but it's picking up :)

Aside from the minor things I have crossed off, I am in the process of crossing off a big one! Mike and I are currently in the process of finding a house. We've already been pre-approved and have spent the last two weeks attending open houses and checking out houses. Keep your fingers crossed for us! I can't wait to get out of this basement and into OUR own place.

I will try my best to keep this thing updated a little more frequently...hope you are all doing well with your lists!
