Happy Anniversary!

Well yesterday was our first wedding anniversary :) It was a fun night and I got to cross something off the list :) Mike had a volleyball championship in the morning so I didn't get to really see him until later in the afternoon. He had made reservations for a restaurant called O. Noir in Toronto. It is something I have been wanting to do since I watched an episode of CSI a while back...dinner in the dark!!

30. Go to dinner in the dark

It was actually a really cool experience. For those who have no idea what dinner in the dark is...basically you go to the restaurant, you are brought into a a lobby type of room and given a menu. You then choose what you want to eat (there is a 2 or 3 course choice) and then you are taken into a room off of this room. A waiter/waitress is then brought out to meet you and take you inside the room. All of the wait staff are visually impaired. You then place your hand on the waitress' shoulder and are brought in to your table and your meal is brought to you! It was so dark...like you can't even see your hands infront of your face dark. Dinner itself was amazing. I ordered filet mignon with potatoes and vegetables and had fruit sorbet for dessert. Normally I am a really picky eater....so this experience was interesting since I obviously didn't get to see anything before I ate it. At one point I got kind of frustrated because I couldn't find anything with my fork, so I started using my fingers lol. All in all it was GREAT and it is something I would recommend to others and do again myself.

This week I also tried two new foods...arugula and mango sorbet. The arugula I tried in a pasta salad...usually I just pick it out and don't eat it (I'm not big on anything green lol) but I decided to try it. It's not something I would eat again though...kinda just tasted like chewing a leaf...blah. The mango sorbet I had for my dessert at O. Noir. I was kinda nervous eating the first bite, because on the menu it specified the sorbet as "fruit" but not which kind...in all honesty I was hoping for raspberry...but it was mango....something that I have never tried before. I actually really enjoyed it...and would definitely eat it again!

I also watched Precious this week...so thats another movie off the alphabet list.

I'm still reading Eat, Pray, Love....its taking me forever because I don't feel 100% committed to the book. Hopefully I'll finish it this week and I can move on to my next book and author!

I have a lot of things on the list in progress, but I feel like I haven't accomplished much yet. I'm going to review the list this week and change a few things....not because I don't feel that I will be able to do them...but because I don't feel like they accurately depict things I want to do before my time is up. I want the list to reflect me a little bit more....so there are probably about 5 things I'm going to change!

Anyways...I hope you are all doing well with your lists!

Food...glorious food!

I didn't cross anything officially off my list this week, but I started a couple of them :)

One of my items on the list is to try a new recipe once a week for 3 months...and in the last 2 weeks, I've started this :) Last week we made burgers and needed a side dish, but neither of us wanted the usual fried potatoes or baked potato, so I decided to try making rosemary oven roasted potatoes....SO YUMMY!! Mind you, I didn't really use a recipe....I just kind of threw together a bunch of spices on some new potatoes that we had sitting around. I covered them in oil, salt, pepper, rosemary, paprika and garlic powder. They were so good, but next time I think I'll use a little more spices on them!

This week we went grocery shopping and we came across small whole chickens...so I decided we should get one and I would make roast chicken for dinner...which was honestly the best idea ever! I made it tonight for dinner...I cooked the whole chicken, rubbed it with oil, rosemary (yes rosemary again lol), thyme, salt, pepper and garlic powder...added some water and put some onions on top of the chicken and in the water and slow roasted it for a couple of hours. The chicken turned out so tender that it was falling apart as we tried to take it out of the pan. For side dished I made mashed potatoes, cobs of corn (Ontario grown yay!) and crescent rolls. It was the best dinner I've cooked...like ever lol. I'm becoming quite the little chef!

I also tried something new...which is one of my items (to try 5 new foods). Mike and I were out to dinner on Friday night at East Side's and he ordered scallop carbonara. I have never tried scallops...as I don't really like seafood. I asked him if I could try it...just to taste it so he let me. So my new food is scallops...can't say that I will eat it again, but at least I can say I know what one tastes like!

I've also been keeping up with the gym this week. I've gone three times, for roughly an hour each night. Hopefully I can keep this up!

I'm still reading Eat, Pray, Love...and it seems to be taking me a while. I don't know why but I can't read this book quickly. I know many many many people LOVE this book...but I'm finding it just OK...but who knows...maybe I'll get into it this week. My goal is to finish reading it by the end of this week.

Well until next week...adios!

Stay Awake...must...stay...awake...

Woohoo...another one bites the dust!

87. Go to the Drive-in and stay awake for all of the movies

Last night Mike and I went to the drive in and I stayed awake for both movies! We watched Salt and The Other Guys. It was actually surprisingly easy to do last night for some reason, normally I fall asleep half way through the first one...sometimes just after it. I'm going to attempt a long weekend at the drive-in when I get the chance...as on long weekends there are 3 movies to watch which is a bit more of a challenge.

I also started a few more tasks this week...I started my 1000 piece puzzle, but I'm still kind of in the sorting process, looking for all of the edges at the moment. I have a feeling this one is going to take me a looonnnnnggggg time...but oh well!

This morning I attended a class at the gym...which was a bit disappointing lol...it showed me how out of shape I really am. I only made it half way through the class and had to leave...but I'm not giving up! I'm going to go back next week and try again, and I will keep going back until I make it through the entire class. I'm going to try and get to the gym at least 3 times this week as well...I'm finally feeling better so I think I can do it! I'm going to seriously work on my cardio...no more slacking on a bike...I'm going to use the Treadmill this week!! Yay me haha!

I'm also kind of working on the whole debt thing...I'm going to get my smart serve so that I can work for my sister part-time...she hires people to waitress and pour beer at big events in the city, so she said she would let me know when things come up and I can choose to do them or not. I like the idea, because its not something I have to commit to 100%, I can say no if I don't want to do it and not worry about not being called back. I also have an interview tomorrow for a babysitting job. It's kind of wierd because I've never been interviewed for babysitting before, especially since I'm an ECE...but it's potential extra cash on an occasional basis. Any money I make doing these two things will go directly towards credit cards or school loans...bye bye debt!

Anyways, I'll update again later in the week :) I start Eat, Pray, Love tomorrow!!

Another one off the list...

I totally meant to update this weekend...but I honestly felt like crap, so it didn't happen. As I wrote last weekend...I came down with strep throat (I guess it's about 2 weeks ago now) and then this weekend I was taken out by your average cold with a vengeance...it sucks. I'm actually still not feeling good, but meh what can you do?

Anyways...this weekend I knocked another one off my list :)

38. Go on a hike through Rattlesnake Park

Mike and I decided to head up to Rattlesnake Point and go for a hike, we planned out our root, even packed a picnic lunch!

Basically Rattlesnake Point is located up on the escarpment in Milton. There are a few hiking paths, you can camp out if you want and lots of people go rock climbing off the side of the escarpment.

It was a lot of fun, we followed a 3km hiking path through the forested area...well we kind of detoured to the edge of the path so we could check out the view. In this picture I climbed over the barrier, this is where man of the rock climbers could set up, and took a picture with the view behind me...beautiful :)

Another view from the path.

We never actually got around to eating our picnic...I was starting to not feel so good, and Mike was ready to head out...plus it actually didn't take us as long as we thought it would, so we just brought out picnic home to eat for lunch.

This week I am not really sure what I'm going to get done off the list...my main goal is to focus on me and feeling better...not sure how I'm going to make that happen other than to take it easy and get some rest. I might go see Step Up 3D by myself...yup...thats right...by myself. It's not on my list, but I really want to do something just for me...and this might be my start!

Anyways...have a great Friday everyone :)
