Baby Registries = Tiring

Who would have thought that making up a baby registry would be so tiring? A brand new Toys R Us opened up just down the street from me this weekend and they were having a bunch of grand opening sales, so I decided that it would be a good time to put together my registry. My sister wanted to come along, so together we went over to explore the Babies R Us and add a bunch of stuff to my registry...which was exciting since we now know that Baby B is a BOY!! (My mother's intuition was spot on in predicting the sex of the baby :D)

We probably spent a good hour or so at the store scanning all sorts of things...from breast pumps to bottles, blankets to diapers. Picking out nursery items was hard...I wasn't sure what kind or colour of crib I wanted or what bedding I was interested in and Mike was of no help. Apparently he doesn't care what the nursery looks like, he's just going to paint it and build it...so whatever. Once a crib and dresser/changer and bedding were picked out...we were off to the travel section of the store. Every mother in the city must have been out in full force for the stroller and car seat sales they had going on. I stood in the background and listened to sales associates answer everyone's questions about different strollers and finally made a decision on the one that I wanted. I picked an Eddie Bauer travel system which includes the stroller and infant car seat/carrier. All in all, making the registry was fun...scanning things for our little guy to use when hes born...but it was so tiring! When I left I was ready for a good afternoon nap...which is exactly what happened by time i got home :).

After all the scanning I did in store, I still came home to add stuff online and remove things I didn't really want so much...and I have yet to make another trip to the store to add a couple of things I forgot. I ended up changing my mind about the stroller...at the store I debated between two Eddie Bauer strollers...and later changed my mind to the second one, as I could also get a matching playard and high chair, all of which were on sale...taking the grand total down by a whopping $260. My mom and sisters purchased the above for me, and will be shipped in the next week. It's exciting to have our first real usable furniture bought and on the way! I can't wait to see all of the other stuff we get when the time comes (not that I'm being greedy)...it's just so exciting...especially now that we know "it" is a HE!

19 weeks and counting

I'm officially 19 weeks pregnant today!

I had my first official OB appt. last Thursday...which went pretty well. Nothing really exciting happened...had to get some blood work done, listened to the heartbeat and my due date once again was changed. Instead of being due on March 17th, I'm now due on March 22nd. Not a big deal to me...the longer I get to work the more money we get to put away until the baby comes :)

This week I go for my anatomy U/S...only 2 more sleeps!! I'm super excited to find out what we are having :) With my luck my baby's legs will probably be crossed or something though lol. I'm don't really care one way or another what we have, as long as the baby is healthy. Mike thinks we're having a girl and so do most of my family (I honestly think they just want a girl) and all the girls at work think I'm having a boy. At the beginning of the pregnancy I kind of felt like it was a boy...now I really have no idea what I think it is!

Anyways...we find out on Wednesday!!

Hope everyone else is doing well with their pregnancies :)

I'll update again in a few days...

Love is in the air...or...umm...babies? are :)

Seems like everywhere I turn lately people are telling me they're pregnant! A couple of my co-workers are pregnant, many of the parents are pregnant, some friends of mine are pregnant...many of the blogs I follow have announced that they are pregnant....babies are everywhere!

The exciting thing is....so am I! Hubby and I found out that we were expecting in July....after a week long denial on my part. I just wouldn't believe that pregnancy was an option at the time, as we were planning to start trying in the near future but hadn't actually started. Well...surprise! I was!

Finding out with the HPT was one thing...I went to see my doctor within the next couple of days to confirm everything, which lead to a crazy whirlwind of scariness for an almost 2 week period. When I was about 5 weeks I was sent for an U/S and nothing could be seen...not a sac not a blur...nothing! So I was told to come back in 10 days for a follow up, but to prepare myself as it was very possible I was about to miscarry. 10 days later I went back....anddddd.....I got to to only see my little jelly bean...but I got to see it's heart beating :)

Our plan was not to tell anyone other then immediate family until we hit the second trimester...but that plan soon came crashing down when no one could keep a secret! Over the last two weeks it feels like the whole world has found out...but I'm over it! I'm trying to enjoy this time in my life and I don't have time to worry about what other people are doing and saying. I'm 12 weeks this weekend...and hoping that the "morning" sickness soon subsides! My "baby bump" is slowly emerging and my clothes aren't quite fitting as well as they used to....but I'm excited for this journey ahead of me!

Now that the secret is out...I'll try and update more often

Ugh...People....

This week has been a bag of mixed emotions for me. I've actually been really disappointed with a whole situation that occurred this week...it was quite frankly really upsetting. I wish that people could learn to mind their own business...and if they do see "something" or hear "something" that they could be honest enough to come to me first about it before telling EVERYONE else...ugh!

I'm trying to move past the whole thing now...but it still just sucks. I've lost my faith in a lot of people that I thought I could trust.

Anyways...time to end this rant!

I'll update again soon...I promise!

All Moved In...

So we did it! We moved into our very first house :)

This week has been crazy hectic trying to get everything organized. Both of us took the week off and apparently have also taken on wayyyy too many projects! Saturday we moved in...Mike's friends and brother helped us move everything over, while my mom and sister helped me tidy everything up at this end. I unpacked a bunch of stuff as it showed up...set up the bathrooms, put stuff away in the kitchen, rewashed all the dishes, etc.

Mike's brother spent the night and helped us put together a bunch of the furniture on Sunday. I organized a bunch of my stuff and put it away. In the afternoon we checked out the little diner down the street...which had amazing food!

Monday we continued to unpack in the morning and then decided to go shopping for the rest of the furniture and decos that we needed for the house. We ended up picking up a table for the front hall, an end table for the living room and a TV stand, along with a bunch of little touches to help make this place feel more like home. We spent the afternoon setting things up and putting together our patio furniture. I cleaned up a bit too...mopped the floors and vacuumed the carpets and basement.

On Tuesday I went shopping for some more stuff that we needed...picked out a new paint for the kitchen/dining room, picked up all the painting supplies, an ottoman for the living room and some decos for the front table, then I had to go to the dentist (yay *insert sarcasm here*) and come home and wait for the couch guy to come and spray our couches with special sealant stuff...after he left I went over to the greenhouse down the street and bought some flowers for the back garden. I picked out some beautiful day lilies and a few annuals to help add colour to the garden until the lilies grow a bit.

On Wednesday the painting started...well Mike did the painting...any attempt I made to help was quickly squandered and I was sent off to do other stuff. I ended up building some more furniture and went out to buy some more paintings and a mirror for the front hallway. I also hung up some of the paintings and other wall decos that we already had.

Painting continued on well into today...there is tonnes of trim and baseboards to go around! But it feels good to know the kitchen is now a colour that we like :) While Mike finished the painting I cleaned the carpet on the stairs and mopped and vacuumed AGAIN! As soon as painting was done I put everything away in the kitchen and cooked dinner..first dinner in the new house! I invited my mom and my sisters over for dinner and hot tubbing.

A little while ago our new neighbours came over and brought us some home made cookies...which are so yummy! This is something that never would have happened in our old city! So far I love it here...I look forward to having friends and family over soon! Mike's family are coming over for a BBQ and to see the house on Saturday and my Dad and his family will be over next weekend...then the friend parties can start!

Here comes the bride....

So this past long weekend was spent mostly in Ottawa....my dad got remarried! Exciting right?...well not so much. I honestly didn't have any feelings about the whole thing going into this weekend, I'm not the bride's biggest fan, which has never been a secret, but I really was just going to be there for my dad. By the end of the weekend I was so emotionally drained that I wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for a week.

Everything went well for the first portion of the day...we left for Ottawa on Saturday morning and we arrived in Ottawa around 1pm and stopped by a pub for some lunch. We checked into the hotel around 2pm and started getting ready for the wedding. The wedding started at 4:30pm, the ceremony was first, followed by the reception. Dinner was good, the food was better than expected...but then came the speeches! This is the part where things started to go down hill. It's a known fact in my family that my dad was unfaithful to my mom, which is part of why I'm not a fan of the bride, what I found out during speeches was actually how long the whole relationship was carried on for...which was like a slap across the face. People on the bride's side decided to make impromptu speeches thanking my dad for being such a great second dad to them....slap across the face #2...it's nice to hear that all these people had such a great second dad when I grew up without a first one.

I know that these speeches were not meant to hurt me or my sister in any way...but the fact of the matter is that they did. They hurt a lot to hear. I'm a pretty strong person for what I have gone through growing up and I think I thought I was over everything...but after Saturday night, I've learned that I'm not. I wish that I had had a father growing up...someone who wanted to be a part of my life and who wanted to know me. It hurts to know that while my dad wasn't getting to know me or spending time being part of my life...he was busy being part of someone elses and being a father to them
At the end of the night my dad approached me and apologized for the hurt that the night had inadvertently caused and made me a bunch of promises that I am not quite ready to share...mostly because I question whether or not he will actually keep the promises that were uttered that night. I'm the person that wants to believe the best in everyone will shine through...so I'm going to give him the opportunity to follow through on his promises and uphold what he told me that night...but the pessimistic side of me is telling me not to hold my breath.

Anyways...I just needed to vent about the weekend...it's over...time to move on :)
